Receives all incoming telephone calls directed to the Correctional Services Department. Ascertains the identity of the caller and the purpose of the call, determines those which should be routed to the appropriate individual and those which can be handled personally, and refers others to appropriate institution departments. Incumbent handles routine inquiries from both staff and inmates, providing technical assistance and answering questions regarding the general nature of correctional services. Utilizing a computer, incumbent types reports of assaults, escapes, deaths, and major and minor incidents to the regional and Central Office, with a high degree of accuracy. Requests pertinent data from other departments, for inclusion in the Correctional Services Quarterly Report. Compiles, tabulates, and types the Captain's reports for submission to the Regional Office. Follows-up interdepartmentally on monthly reports for submission to the regional Office. Maintains this information in a file. Responsible for preparing itineraries and travel vouchers, and making all travel arrangements for the Captain. Provides direct supervision of inmate orderlies assigned to the Captain and Lieutenants, acts as a resource person, and ensures the accuracy of inmate work. May perform timekeeping duties including maintaining and preparing time and attendance records. May collect and compile statistical data. Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. Health Technician Stamford, CT Assists in patient care under the direct supervision of an independent licensed healthcare provider. Physician Assistant West Haven, CT The Physician Assistant (PA) will have training or experience in sleep medicine and will provide follow-up care for patients with a diagnosed breathing disorder such as sleep apnea. The Physician Assistant will have the authority to write follow-up PAP prescriptions (consults) for patients that have already been prescribed PAP therapy by Sleep Study Pulmonologists. Work that cannot practically be completed in-house can be consulted to a contract vendor. The Physician Assistant works with the assigned Respiratory Therapist regarding equipment related training and support for Veterans already prescribed PAP therapy. These issues include problems with PAP mask fit, PAP machine, PAP supplies and questions. Issues such as nasal congestion or dryness and other potential side effects should be monitored, documented and be addressed. Utilization should be determined and addressed. Remedial training and additional follow-up appointments are needed if the patient is using PAP therapy less than 4 hours per night. If a patient is doing well and is using PAP therapy regularly, Bi-PAP patients can be followed bi-annually and CPAP patients annually. Any bi-annual or annual follow-up care that cannot practically be performed in-house can be sent to the contract vendor. Work can include all or some of the following (some of the workload will come about in time): initial PAP set-ups (set PAP pressures and perform initial PAP mask fitting), weekly education PAP mask and PAP equipment clinic(s), weekly scheduled or unscheduled follow-up PAP clinics and daily follow up phone calls to PAP patients. Patients must be educated about sleep apnea and breathing disorders as well as machine operation, machine care, and maintenance, filter replacement, mask fitting, mask and tubing care and cleaning and proper utilization practices. Administrative duties would include but not limited to inputting medical notes. The Physician Assistant would also coordinate with clerical staff regarding scheduling, documentation of patient encounters and coordinating with the hospital business office.
